Foods Which Affect Dog Health Care

If you have a dog then you probably want the best for your pet. But it’s pretty likely that you are one of the sorts of dog owners who cannot be cruel to be kind and who gives in to the temptation to feed the dog scraps of human food. However, it is important to remember that some foods that humans regularly consume can be poisonous to dogs and might result in a serious dog health care emergency.

A classic example of a type of food that we people regularly enjoy but that is very dangerous to dog health care is chocolate. Many people have heard that it is unhealthy for dogs but few realise that it is actually seriously poisonous and dangerous to dog health care. Hallucinations, seizures and internal bleeding can all result from a dog eating chocolate, with death being the worst case scenario. It really isn’t worth taking the risk of feeding your dog cholcoate because even a small bar could kill it. If a dog does swallow any chocolate it should be made to be sick and taken to a vet as soon as possible.

Grapes and raisins are not conducive to dog health care, so it is lucky that most dogs aren’t so inclined to eat them anyway. Grapes and raisins will cause kidney failure and death in dogs, if enough are eaten. Some sizes and breeds of dog can eat more grapes or raisins than others, but it is much better to avoid the dog health care risk.

Another serious threat to dog health care are onions and macadamia nuts.Ingesting them may lead to stiffness, shaking, hyperthermia and abdominal pain.

We don’t often see drunk dogs, but a dog that has been drinking alcohol will behave in a comparable way to a drunken human. Alcohol has the same effect on dogs as it does on people and may leave them feeling very under the weather. However, should the dog have drunk beer specifically, then there is a another problem. Dog health care is jeopardised by the hops which are used to make the beer. The hops cause malignant hyperthermia which very often leads to death. The amount of hops a dog can tolerate before becoming seriously ill depends on size and breed and greyhounds are particularly susceptible.

Most dog owners are familiar with the basics of dog health care, but it is very important to follow this advice in order to keep your dog in good health.
